Terrible Luck in Poker

For a game where most enthusiasts occasionally consider fortune, there are lots of folklore in poker. When you say that someone was lucky in that poker tournament they won, be mindful of how you say it. For instance, if you say that you were unfortunate, your fortune may never change.

Ok, that may appear to be a bit ubsurd, but poker is a game armed with folklores. Did you know that if you are gambling a game with 2 different decks and you are asked to pick the deck, you should always select the deck that is furthest from you? Or, what If you have a streak of poor cards, you have to sit on a hankerchief to break your poor luck? It’s certainly considered good fortune to blow through a pack of cards when they’re being shuffled.

A few other interesting poker folklores are:

  • You might be able to alter the run of cards by passing around your chair three times.
  • The luckiest seat at the poker table faces the entry.
  • The worst chair has its back to a fireplace.
  • When switching spots, you should always do so following the clock.
  • The worst poker card is the four of clubs.
  • It is most unlucky to sit with your legs crossed at the poker table.
  • Sun is a horrible day for wagering on cards.
  • The 13th is also a bad day, regardless of when it falls.
