Gaming chips have been manufactured from a huge selection of materials in an almost infinite assortment of variations since the creation of wagering and the need to keep track of winnings. The most commonly seen components used at present in the creation of current poker chips are plastic, clay composite, and acrylic composite. Clay chips, the primary of the bunch, have been manufactured in the US since the late 19th century.

Back in the 19th century, poker enthusiasts appear to be using any tiny object with value you can imagine. Early poker enthusiasts sometimes used jagged gold pieces along with chips – chiefly made of wood and clay. By the 1900s, poker chip features started to employ a bigger prominence, and the smooth sides of older chips were given up to chips with slits to keep them neatly stacked with each other.

There is little or no debate that poker has increased constantly in universal appeal since its origin in the 19th century. With the explosive increase of web gambling and specialty TV shows, public interest in poker has accelerated more rapidly than ever before. Many folks are initially introduced to poker by television showslike "Celebrity Poker" or "Poker After Dark," and many will wager on their initial hands on the net. Regardless of web poker’s rise, not much replaces the feeling of holding heavy poker chips in your hand, throwing chips into the center of a poker table, or stacking high pilesstacks of chips after displaying a winning hand.
