Stu is considered by most to the finest NL Texas hold em Poker gambler ever.

The three time World Poker Champion was born in New York in ‘53 and began playing poker prior to reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out wagering gin and at the age of ten had won his 1st gin tournament, while on vacation with his parents. By the time he turned 14 the little poker genius had become a pro and dropped out of school.

In 1954 Stu entered the record books by succeeding 10,000 dollars in a gin rummy tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still appears in New York these days.

The quick talking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic superstars such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu had a true ability for playing poker but regardless of his successes in Texas hold em poker, he favored wagering gin.

Stu once said that there may some day be a much better No Limit Hold’em gambler than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a much better gin gambler.

In ‘80 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the finest Texas hold’em Poker gamblers in the earth when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the very first time. Astonishingly it was the very first time he had played in the tournament.

The right after year he put aside any suggestions that it had been a fluke, by effectively defending his title. And in 1997 Stu set the record by succeeding his third World poker championship.

But this poker master also fought with substance abuse and a year following succeeding his third title Stu Ungar past away in his hotel room. According to doctors, he had died from cardiac arrest which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu had started with practically nothing but his ability and expertise for the game which made this poker great a millionaire a lot of times over.
