Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
by Carlos on February 19th, 2016
Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve last poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
