NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
