Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
