Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
by Carlos on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023
Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While participating in web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
